Fresh Market Lead

Eataly Dallas
Alejandra A.

Year Joined the Eataly Team: 2021
Eataly Favorite: Cacio e pepe

Born and raised in Mexico, Alejandra graduated with a degree in International Relations. She originally thought she would enter the field of teaching or social work but ended up serving people in a different way through a career in hospitality.

In 2021, Alejandra joined the team at Eataly Dallas as an Artisan in the Salumi & Formaggi Department. She came in with a positive attitude and a commitment to giving guests at the counter the best experience possible. Understanding that product knowledge was essential, Alejandra asked questions and worked hard to learn about our salumi & formaggi offerings. Thanks to her hard work, Alejandra is able to provide exceptional and knowledgeable service, frequently receiving positive feedback from guests.

Alejandra’s actions and disposition contribute to creating a welcoming and collaborative environment that leads to positive results. Recently, Alejandra was promoted to the position of Fresh Market Lead. In new role, her influence extends beyond Salumi & Formaggi to drive the success of other fresh departments as well – Fresh Pasta, Meat & Fish, and Produce. As a Lead, Alejandra inspires her teammates by supporting them in what they do and doing her personal best every single day.

In your own words, how would you describe your role at Eataly?
“I start my day by reviewing and following our production lists. I keep our refrigerators and counters stocked, cleaned, and organized. I see in what areas I can assist our team. As I Lead, I am responsible for contributing to the success of our departments as well as with program planning and execution. Finally, I interact with guests to make sales and share information with them about our products. For example, I talk to them about our cheeses: the best way to eat them, good pairing combinations, how to store them so they don’t spoil. Serving our guests is my favorite part of my job.”

What is your team like?
“We all complement and support each other. I am very organized and bring that skill. Some of my teammates are product experts, and I rely on them to expand my own product knowledge. We divide up our work according to each other’s strengths and support each other in achieving our goals.”

What have you learned since working at Eataly?
“I have learned a lot about products – how they are made, how to handle them. I have also learned to take responsibility for my decisions and to accept their consequences. Each person on my team has a different way of working, and I have learned to respect this and to be more adaptable. At first, this was difficult for me, but it has gotten easier with time. Finally, I have learned that if I want to achieve my goals, sometimes this means doing more than is requested of me. I have seen that putting in some extra effort will yield results and pay off in the long run.”

Who inspires you?
“My children. They both have autism, and they have taught me to be a responsible, organized, and delicate person. They have the whole world against them and yet they are happy in their own way. They inspire me every day.”

What advice do you have for a fellow Eatalian team member?
“If you want to have more opportunities, do a little more work. It’s just like any skill. If you want to master something, you have to practice whenever you can. Push yourself to practice and achieve mastery.”

Outside of Eataly, what do you like to do?
“I like to run. I’ve always liked sports and played on teams when I was younger. When I have time, I also like to read.”
