Eataly Favorite: Pizza alla pala with burrata

Angie grew up in Boston with her family, who is originally from El Salvador. While working jobs in the retail industry, Angie began studying cybersecurity in school. In 2023, she came in to interview with us at Eataly Boston and was very excited to experience Eataly for the first time and witness how guests could Eat.Shop.Learn all under one roof. She was offered a position as a Restaurant Host and happily accepted.

As a Host, Angie greeted our restaurant guests, managed reservations, and handled seating. Welcoming and warm, Angie made sure everyone’s dining experience began on a positive note, taking extra care to efficiently accommodate families with children. When difficult situations arose, Angie handled them with grace, collaborating with and motivating her team members to find solutions. In addition to hosting, Angie spent time assisting with deliveries, a role that help introduce her to our menu items. Sparking her interest, Angie invested time to further study our menus, ultimately allowing her to transition to become a Server.

As a Server, Angie showed dedication from the start – actively participating in pre-shift meetings and flexing her schedule to ensure there was always adequate coverage in the restaurants. She went above and beyond to provide exceptional service, even taking time to learn about our retail products so she could be sure to know how to answer all of our guests’ questions. Angie was soon promoted to Service Lead and then to Restaurant Manager. With a smile, Angie makes memorable and special experiences for others in our restaurants every single day.

What have you learned during your time at Eataly?
“I’ve learned a lot about how restaurants work and how to manage all different types of people. I’ve also learned A LOT about Italian food, especially cheese. I didn’t know much about it before I started working here.”

What is your favorite memory of your time at Eataly so far?
“There are many. In general, I really just loved being at the host stand and talking to people – connecting with them and sharing stories.”

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
“I wanted to be a lawyer when I was a kid. Then I switched and went to school for computer science initially. Now, I study cybersecurity.”

What advice do you have for a fellow Eatalian team member?
“Be open to talking with people. No matter which department you work in, you’re going to be talking with many people throughout the day.”
