Claudia is originally from Colombia. In 2021, she joined the Restaurant Team at Eataly Chicago as a Server. Since Claudia started with Eataly, her knowledge of Italian wine and regional cuisine has increased tremendously. She takes great care to describe dishes to guests, and she is currently one of our most knowledgeable Servers in Chicago when it comes to wine.
Thanks to her knowledge, friendliness, and great teaching abilities, Claudia is a wonderful trainer and role model for new restaurant teammates. Her wit, positive attitude, and constant willingness to help out make her a valued team member across the restaurants at Eataly Chicago.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
“I saw Top Gun when I was little, and I wanted to become a combat pilot. But then I realized that, yeah … maybe not a pilot … but a flight attendant! I did become a flight attendant for eight years, so I got my dream.”
How did you transition from being a flight attendant to being a server?
“Well, it’s very similar. It’s customer service, and I like customer service. When you’re a flight attendant, you have to deal with a lot of people. The restaurant is nicer because usually people come in calm and happy. Then, it’s very similar customer service. I get to talk to people, I get to know people, and I get to spend my time with people. So that’s amazing for me.”
Have you learned to cook any new dishes during your time at Eataly?
“Oh yes – spaghetto al pomodoro, my favorite. I learned that I have to use Afeltra pasta, and Afeltra tomatoes, which are amazing. The best combination ever.”
