Originally from Brazil, Elisangela followed her dream to move to Canada in 2018. Just a few months later, she joined Eataly Toronto’s Grand Opening Team as a Barista. Elisangela saw an opportunity to learn more about the various aspects of Quick Service Restaurants (QSR) and quickly expanded her knowledge to include all counters. At the start of 2022, Elisangela became a QSR Lead and is thriving in her new position.
For Elisangela, no task is too big or too small. Whether it’s contributing to new hire onboarding or working with Facilities to fix a café crema machine, Elisangela’s presence is felt positively. Her support, curiosity, and dedication make Elisangela an integral part of our Eataly team.
Before Eataly, did you work in hospitality?
“I studied Business Administration in Brazil, and I worked in Human Resources for 15 years. When I moved to Canada, I enrolled in university. At my school, I received an advertisement that Eataly was hiring. I was happy because I had visited Eataly in Sao Paulo, and I was excited to apply.”
What advice do you have for a new Eataly team member?
“If you want to grow, you’re in the right place. You can tell from my story. I started as a Barista, and then I learned to work across seven different counters. The company always provides feedback, and you have the opportunity to assess your pathway for growth. If you’re not happy in one department, you can go to another department. There are lots of options.”
Have you tried any new foods while working at Eataly?
“I tried tiramisu for the first time here. I was so surprised by the taste. I thought it would taste like coffee, and I’m not crazy about coffee. But it was so incredible and delicious. Now, it’s my number one dessert forever!”
