Gary H.

Gary grew up in Indianapolis. Shortly after moving to NYC, he joined the Eataly Downtown Team as a Barista, taking pride in making memorable moments (and great coffee!) for Eataly guests.

During the pandemic, Gary demonstrated flexibility and willingness to help out the team however needed. His involvement in launching the “Eataly at Home” delivery program brought to light his interest in and talent for catering. Now, Gary manages the Catering Department at Eataly Downtown. Thanks to his team, we are able to extend the Eataly experience outside the walls of our Downtown store.

In your own words, what does a Catering Manager at Eataly do?
“As the Catering Manager, I work with clients on offsite events. I build relationships, introduce people to Italian food, and understand how to make their experience the best it can possibly be.”

What advice do you have for a new Eataly team member?
“I will give you a genuine interaction, and I think that is what has served me. It’s really important to pay attention to what you have to offer and what people enjoy about it … I always say, if there is a door cracked open, you just gotta open it.”

Outside of work, what do you like to do?
“I enjoy theatre and studied it in college. I am also a playwright. So far, I’ve staged two shows in festivals in New York.”
