What is your background?
“I grew up in the Philippines before moving to Canada. I’ve always loved cooking because it allows me to create something for other people to enjoy. My mother and grandmother both were great cooks; growing up with them inspired me to get involved in the food industry. I studied Culinary Arts and previously worked as a cook in a retirement home.”
What has your Eataly journey been like?
“When I started at Eataly in 2022, I was a student looking for part-time work in a kitchen that would allow me to learn and grow. I wasn’t very familiar with Italian cuisine when I began. Over the years, I’ve learned so much and have become more confident in handling kitchen responsibilities. I’ve also improved my efficiency, speed, and ability to work as part of a team. I currently work as a Prep Cook in the Central Kitchen on the cold side. Every day, I manage a list of prep tasks and recipes. I usually prepare pesto, dressings, and pasta salads. I love that the recipes on my prep list are different on a daily basis. It keeps the work interesting, and it gives me the opportunity to continue learning and improve my skills while mastering new recipes.”
What advice do you have for a fellow Eatalian?
“Always be willing to learn because there is constantly something new that can help you grow your skills and knowledge. Making mistakes is part of the process; continuing to practice and learning from those experiences helps build confidence over time. Having a good attitude, being dependable, and assisting your team can really help you grow and do well at Eataly.”
What are some fun facts about you?
“I enjoy drawing, watching movies, and going for walks. I have always wanted a career where I can use my creativity.”
