Mariela L.

Mariela is from San Jose, California. While in college, she spent a semester studying abroad in Rome where she had a wonderful experience. When the opportunity came to join the team at Eataly Silicon Valley, Mariela saw it as the perfect way to continue being in the Italian environment she fell in love with at school.

In 2024, Mariela began at Eataly as a Quick Service Sales Specialist where she learned our multiple counters including serving pizza and pastries as well as making coffee and drinks at the caffé. She has demonstrated her versatility as a valuable team member.

Respectful and hardworking, Mariela ensures that everyone on the team is set up for success – offering training and support to new Eatalians. No matter the challenges that arise, Mariela maintains a positive attitude – keeping a pleasant atmosphere at the counters for our guests and setting a wonderful example for her team members.

What is your favorite memory from your time at Eataly so far?
“In the first month that I joined, I was a part of the Eataly anniversary celebration. Experiencing something like that, where I got to see a bunch of people come together to enjoy Italian cuisine alongside my coworkers, was great.”

What have you learned since you joined Eataly?
“I need to have a lot of patience and practice effective communication. If someone doesn’t communicate, we may make more mistakes. It’s so important to communicate effectively and together as a team.”

Who inspires you?
“My family inspires me. They’re a huge reason why I want to eventually own my own cafe. I grew up having a lot of coffee, and it’s nice to still drink it with them and bond with the family after a long day.”

What do you enjoy doing outside of Eataly?
“I love going for walks and visiting new cafes. I also really like going on hikes and spending time at the beach.”
