Marvin was born in Jamaica and raised in West Palm Beach. Before Eataly, he worked as a barber for 30 years. During the pandemic, Marvin discovered his talent and love for baking … ultimately leading him to Eataly Dallas!
For nearly two years, Marvin was part of our Bread Production Team. Whenever guests had questions or wanted recommendations, he would never hesitate to walk out from behind the counter to speak with them. Oftentimes, he would end up providing guidance about products throughout the entire store – not just in the Bread Bakery. It was only natural that Marvin’s next position would be Storyteller – where he currently is today!
Marvin is the ultimate team member – positive, kind, and supportive. He consistently shows guests and teammates alike that Eataly is not only a great place to eat or to work – but also to learn and to have fun.
How did your interest in food begin?
“My love of food came from my mom. She was a baker and a cook, and she was a natural at it. She knew how to make such a variety of foods. I say she’s the greatest cook on the planet. While my siblings were playing outside, I would stay with her in the kitchen and taste everything. My mom passed the family recipes on to me. To this day, I love to cook – especially fish and anything I can make on the grill.”
What advice do you have for a new Eataly team member?
“Bring good energy! And get to know your team. It’s so important to get to know people by name. Learn people’s names and encourage them to have a great day.”
Outside of Eataly, what do you like to do?
“Comedy and music! I do stand-up comedy, and I am a vocalist and a song writer. Music has always been a big part of my family. Whenever we come together, music is part of our gathering. We do sing-offs and have a ton of fun. When I need time for myself, I enjoy painting.”
