Originally from El Salvador, Rigoberto moved to the USA when he was nine years old and grew up in Massachusetts. Following his childhood career aspiration to work in Construction, he entered the industry and later proceeded to positions in Maintenance. Upon being introduced to Eataly, Rigoberto recognized ample opportunities for learning and growth within our organization. He joined the Eataly Boston Team in 2024 as a Facilities Mechanic. The next year, he was promoted to Facilities Manager.
Every day, Rigoberto arrives at work ready to go, focused on maintaining all equipment in working order, keeping operations running smoothly and ensuring everyone on the team is able to do their job. Since starting at Eataly, Rigoberto has dedicated his own time to learn more about HVAC and study the store’s equipment to build his knowledge.
When unexpected challenges and difficulties pop up, the team can count on Rigoberto to do whatever it takes to solve them. In such instances, Rigoberto’s technical knowledge, flexibility, dedication, and problem-solving skills shine. Always giving his best and eager to keep learning, Rigoberto is an essential part of the team and culture at Eataly Boston.
In your own words, what is the job of the Facilities Department at Eataly?
“We provide preventive maintenance and cleaning. For instance, I spend time checking our refrigerators and coils to ensure there’s nothing that will impede them from working. We check the drains and water system, clearing any clogs so everything runs as it should. Also, I respond to the requests and needs of my team members by fixing anything that’s broken.”
What is the best part of your job?
“I like learning about the machines. I find it very interesting to take them apart and understand how they work. I enjoy troubleshooting and fixing them.”
How would you describe your team?
“My team is amazing. We work together really well and brainstorm ideas to find solutions to problems. We help each other with projects and figure things out together.”
What is your favorite memory from your time at Eataly so far?
“We had a leak in the store for a very long time, and we couldn’t figure out the source. A few nights ago, we found it! It was a big celebration together with the plumbers. It was a really great moment.”
Who inspires you?
“Our Store Director, Ben. He is so involved with everything at Eataly Boston, and he is there for everyone on the team. It’s inspiring to know he started as a Line Cook and worked his way up to manage our entire store.”
What advice do you have for a fellow Eatalian?
“Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Everybody here helps each other out like a family.”
