Since the opening of Eataly Dallas, Robert has been an integral team member. As a Guest Relations Associate, he helped set up the store and support our guest experience from Day One.
Currently, Robert holds the position of Storyteller – the perfect role for his joyful personality, deep knowledge of Italian culture and cuisine, and ability to connect with others. Robert loves learning about our guests’ stories and sharing the Eataly story with them. Due to popular demand, we’ve created special private shopping experiences with Robert at Eataly Dallas!
What is your professional background?
“I am from Brooklyn, NY. In college, I chose to study Political Science and Italian. For 20 years, I worked for an Italian airline and got the opportunity to travel all around the world. Then, I moved down to Dallas and was in hotel management for 12 years. After this, I saw an ad for Eataly Dallas in the newspaper and joined the Grand Opening Team in 2020.”
What is your favorite part of the Storyteller position?
“The Storyteller position here allows me to teach and share Italian culture – which I absolutely love to do. On my tours, people feel like they are in a history class. I talk about the country of Italy from the time of the Romans, to the monarchy, to the republic. We taste wine, meats and cheese, bread, pastry, and chocolate. We learn about what goes into making these products and what gives them their originality. I teach our guests different ways to enjoy products, such as pairing balsamic vinegar with fresh fruit.”
Outside of Eataly, what do you like to do?
“I love to cook and make all kinds of things. I am Italian-American, and food has always been a big part of my family. Eggplant parmesan is my specialty. I also love to travel. My most magical trip was a safari in South Africa. I saw the world’s largest elephant population and the largest waterfall in the world.”
