Sadik moved to Toronto from Bangladesh to complete his studies. After earning a degree in Financial Business Economics, he was driven by his passion for hospitality and joined the Eataly team.
In 2021, Sadik began his journey at Eataly Toronto Yorkville. He first mastered the Gelato Bar and then moved on to learn our Pastry, Pizza alla Palla, and Pronto counters. This versatility allowed Sadik to become an integral piece of the QSR team’s success.
For the Grand Opening of Eataly Sherway Gardens, Sadik transferred to the team there as a QSR lead. His teammates describe him as approachable, dependable, and someone who consistently delivers on his commitments. He’s grown into one of the store’s most dependable leaders and with wonderful potential still on offer. Sadik stands out for his consistent ability to follow through, work hard, and approach tasks thoughtfully.
What is your favorite memory at Eataly so far?
My favorite memories come from when I worked at the Gelato Bar. I had my closest friends working there at the time. We always had a great time, even during rush hour. It makes a difference when you have your closest people working with you. And then of course, you have your managers. I had a very good time with my managers. It was really easy to communicate.”
What have you learned since you joined Eataly?
“I have learned a lot of Italian words. When I got promoted, I also learned how to make coffee. Before, I had zero idea about coffee and coffee language was alien to me. My managers Veronica and Amanda encouraged me and put me through rigorous training.”
What is your favorite part of your job?
“I enjoy leading my team. We have a diverse group of individuals with a variety of backgrounds. I feel like they always trust me to lead them. We have a very good communication style, and we respect each other. Whenever they need me, I’m personally there. We can communicate openly and always have a good time when we work together.”
Who inspires you?
“I would say the biggest credit goes to Veronica. She has been my manager and mentor since the beginning. Without her, I would never have been in this position. She was the one who pushed me forward. She said, ‘Sadik, listen—you’ve got to step out of your comfort zone to grow. I know you can do it.’”
