Steven is from El Salvador and moved to Los Angeles when he was 11 years old. Throughout his childhood, he was surrounded by his family’s cooking and is where he fell in love with food. After graduating high school, he went to college to study to become a medical assistant.
In 2022, Steven joined Eataly LA as a Grocery Sales Associate while he continued to go to school. His work ethic and dedication to guest service have allowed him to flourish in the department, and he has recently been promoted to Grocery Team Lead.
A fair and motivated team member, Steven is known for his infectious positivity. He willingly accepts challenges and always gives his best. Steven’s lead-by-example mentality makes him a model for what it means to be an Eatalian.
How would you describe your team?
“My team is great, and we work so well together. When I give instructions, they listen, ask questions, and help each other move forward to get the job done as best as possible.”
What is your favorite memory from your time at Eataly so far?
“When I can see that our help makes a difference with our guests, it makes me really happy. People come back to say ‘thank you’ and that they’ve learned so much about our products.”
What have you learned since joining Eataly?
“I’ve learned so much about all our products, particularly our olive oils. I know the difference between all of them – especially ones from Sicilia, Toscana, and Liguria. I know how to identify which are smooth or a little spicy.”
What do you enjoy doing outside of Eataly?
“I love playing soccer. When I have time, I always try to play. Also, I’m still studying to become a Registered Nurse. I want to continue my studies, so I spend a lot of time taking care of school.”
