In 2018, Yajaira joined the team at Eataly Downtown as Facilities Manager. Within four months, she began overseeing the Housekeeping Department in addition to her facilities role. Soon after, she also took on the management of the restaurant stockers responsible for polishing glassware and silverware. Today, the Warehouse Team is also under the direction of Yajaira.

Yajaira’s strong leadership skills and her ability to inspire and motivate her team are truly commendable. Her guidance, support, and willingness to lead by example have fostered a cohesive and productive team dynamic. Yajaira’s dedication to helping each team member to grow and succeed is evident in the consistent guidance and support she provides to all of us. Her relentless work ethic sets a high standard for the team and motivates us to strive for excellence in everything we do at Eataly.

Do you have a favorite memory of your time at Eataly so far?
“My favorite memory is when my Housekeeping Team threw me a surprise party for my birthday! This was in November of 2022. They put balloons and decorations in the Facilities Office.”

In your own words, what is the job of the Housekeeping & Warehouse Manager?
“In terms of my responsibilities for the Warehouse, we ensure deliveries are made in a timely manner and that each department receives their requisition of collateral for the day. We print the list for each department and distribute items accordingly. There are 22-25 stations so requisitions take about two to three hours.

For Housekeeping, I collaborate with my three Leads to ensure that all stations have the necessary items like pots, pans, plates, and silverware. We guarantee that the restrooms are consistently clean, maintain the floor, pick up debris, and generally create a hygienic and clean environment.”

What is your favorite part of your job?
“What I like most is interacting with my team and people at Eataly. It makes my day to solve people’s problems.”

How would you describe your team?
“My team is awesome and very on point. I always say the team makes you. I value their work and their input, and I always ask them how to make the operations better. They’re the ones on the floor so they know where improvements can be made.”

What advice do you have a for a fellow Eatalian?
“Listen, follow instructions, and give your best effort. My motto is to speak respectfully to others and treat them well. When we treat others with humanity, we receive the same in return.”

Outside of Eataly, what do you like to do?
“I like to travel, dance, and spend time with my family. I dance Bachata, Merengue, and Salsa! I also get my nails done every two weeks, and I like choosing different designs. Once a month, my daughter comes with me, and we have quality time together.”
