Job Description
A Deli Clerk assists guests in choosing products and portion sizes, sharing knowledge about the ingredients and preparation of products at the counter. Reports to the Fresh Counter Manager.
- Assists guests with product selection and slices, weighs, labels and packages products as requested
- Stocks counter and display refrigerators neatly, accurately and in a timely manner as per pricing menu
- Merchandizes displays attractively and rotates products per quality and First In First Out (FIFO) standards
- Maintains proper food handling, safety and sanitation standards while preparing, serving and cleaning
- Keeps display equipment and counters clean and free of debris
- Assists with cashier duties at the counter as needed
- Performs other duties as required or assigned
Qualifications
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently
- Good knife skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Basic math skills
- Knowledge of meat products preferred
- Customer service experience preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Job Requirements
- Availability to work a flexible schedule including weekends
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending and squatting
- Ability to use commercial equipment including a meat slicer, scales, packaging machinery and a cash register
Wage: Starting at $19 an hour, based on experience
