Job Description

JOB OVERVIEW

The General Manager (GM) of Beverage oversees the wine and beverage program for the entirety of a single Eataly location – restaurants, retail, quick service, and e-commerce (if applicable).

The GM of Beverage manages the in-store beverage team, and reports directly to the Director of Store Operations and reports functionally to the Corporate Director of Beverage.

·Organizes and directs a store’s beverage operations to maximize profitability while upholding the company’s mission, values, policies, quality and guest experience standards

·Prepares weekly updates on the beverage program, and collaborates closely with corporate and senior leaders to plan activities and achieve store goals

·Sets departmental goals and leads a team of managers, working closely with each to understand operational needs, provide training and motivation, and encourage interdepartmental collaboration

·Creates and maintains systems for financial sustainability, taking a deep and focused approach to inventory management as well as margin and profitability

·Analyzes and forecasts beverage sales, manages a budget and evaluates the effectiveness of systems

·Establishes vendor relationships and maintains professional rapport with distribution companies and suppliers

·Manages product listings including rollouts of new products and phase-outs of current products

·Designs promotions, campaigns and partnerships with local beverage personalities

·Curates wine classes and events with the Marketing team to elevate the educational experience

·Collaborates with the culinary teams, retail managers, quick service managers, and restaurant managers to plan menu items and pairings

·Assists with employee hiring, assignment, training, payroll, scheduling, evaluations and terminations

·Shares knowledge and appreciation for Italian food and beverage with all guests, providing excellent and responsible beverage service

·Performs other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

·Bachelor’s Degree

·6+ years of progressively more responsible experience in Italian wine and beverage

·2+ years of experience managing in a high-volume restaurant environment

·2+ years of experience managing in a retail environment

·Exceptional communication, leadership, motivational and team-building skills  

·Demonstrated problem-solving, organizational, analytical and business management skills

·Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office

·Experience with Italian wine and cuisine

·Experience in wholesale wine and/or retail industries

JOB REQUIREMENTS

·Availability to work onsite with a flexible schedule often including evenings, weekends and holidays

·Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

·Ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending and squatting

·Availability to travel up to 10% of the time
