Marci grew up in New Jersey in a family of talented cooks and bakers, where food was always at the heart of life. After high school, she attended culinary school and became a trained chef, launching into a dynamic career in food and beverage. Over the years, she’s held roles ranging from chef to restaurant manager, and worked in food sales and distribution.
In 2024, Marci joined the Grand Opening Team at Eataly Short Hills as Fresh Market Lead, playing a key role in setting the department up for success. Her deep food knowledge and natural ability to connect with guests have made a lasting impact—especially in the produce department, where she has poured her energy, dedication, and passion.
Marci is a true leader whose enthusiasm and warmth inspire her team, all of whom have been with Eataly since opening day. She’s also expanded her responsibilities to include catering and managing Too Good To Go operations, handling her diverse duties with grace and efficiency.
A bright light in the store, Marci makes Eataly a better place to work simply by being part of the team.
How did your Eataly journey begin?
“I was looking for a new challenge and saw an ad for an Eataly Job Fair. When I got to the mall for the fair, there was a blackout—no electricity. Just as an HR team member asked me, ‘Are you here for the job fair?’ the lights came back on. It felt like the universe was sending me a sign!”
What was it like to be part of a Grand Opening?
“I trained with the Eataly SoHo team before we opened. Then coming here and helping set everything up was such a special experience. I built great friendships, and my teammates and I figured things out together. It was a true bonding experience—a great journey.”
In your own words, what is the role of a Fresh Market Lead?
“I oversee produce, meat and fish, dairy, beverages, and our Pronto prepared foods department. Alongside another Lead, I help manage these key areas of our market.”
What is your favorite part of your job?
“I love working with produce—designing displays and working with all the beautiful colors. I try to source as many locally grown products as possible. It’s fun hearing guests impressed by our selection, and I love engaging with them. When you’re passionate about food, sales come naturally. I offer advice on products and how to use them, and I’m always learning what else our guests want to see in the store.”
What have you learned during your time at Eataly so far?
“Eataly is like a little universe filled with people from different backgrounds and cultures, which is beautiful. I love learning about others—their stories and experiences.”
Outside of Eataly, what do you enjoy doing?
“I’m a vegan and run my own vegan food and baking business. Whenever I have extra treats, I bring them in for the team! I also love spending time with my family, reading, and doing creative art projects and crafts.”
